There is an old expression which says: “Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper” and if you try the traditional Irish Breakfast, you will have totally this feeling.
The Irish Breakfast is one of the meal that you can’t forget to taste during your time in Ireland because it’s delicious and completely different than others. The classic one includes bacon, sausages, poached eggs, beans, mushrooms, toast, tomato and potato wedges but the thing that sets the breakfast of the Irish apart from most other breakfast dishes around the world is the addition of white pudding and black pudding. For those who don’t know what it is, white pudding consists of oats, beef suet, fat, onions and spices and seasonings. Black pudding, which is also known as blood sausage, consists of goat, cow or pig’s blood, barley, chestnuts, cornmeal, beef suet and fat.
The beverages are also important in the Irish breakfast such as tea, coffee or orange juice. If you want to feel like really Irish, don’t forget to drink Barry’s, Bewley’s or Lyon’s tea which are typical in Ireland.
Traditionally this meal was thought to prepare one for a full days heavy duty work but nowadays, this breakfast is usually eaten at the weekends and at any hour of the day depending on your liking.

The full Irish breakfast includes toast, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 poached eggs, black and white pudding, beans, mushrooms, tomato and potato wedges. If you aren’t starving, the mini Irish Breakfast can be the best option which includes one sausage, one bacon, one poached egg, one black and white pudding, toast and the beverage that you choose. The price of it is 5,95 €.
Finally, if you prefer to cook your own Irish breakfast, here you have the recipe for 4 servers:
Place a frying pan and melt Irish butter. Add the Irish Bacon and fry them until they are cooked. Set aside on a plate and fry the sausages in the frying pan. Once cooked add them to the bacon on the same plate.
Meanwhile slice the puddings, half the tomatoes and chop up the mushrooms and add to the frying pan, frying until they are browned on all sides. Again, once finished add to the plate.
While you are frying the puddings, mushrooms and tomatoes, on a separate saucepan on another hob you can heat the baked beans if using.
After finishing with the vegetables and puddings one can next fry the eggs in the same frying pan. Once finished with the eggs, one can now add all the cooked ingredients together and serve on the plate.
