Start Your Career Adventure Today!Have you ever wanted to go abroad to do an internship or to enrich your studies? Are you ready to experience a new culture and learn a foreign language? Then the Erasmus+ programme was made for you!

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ (called Erasmus plus) is the European Union mobility programme for education, training, youth and sport. It combines previous funding programmes in the sector including the Lifelong Learning Programme (Comenius, Leonardo, Erasmus, Grundtvig and Transversal Programmes), Youth in Action, Jean Monnet, Tempus and Erasmus Mundus. It provides the participant the great opportunity to travel to another country to upskill and train in their sector whilst improving their linguistic ability in the language of the host country. The participant can earn a qualification and validation of their time in the form of a Europass Mobility Certificate and/or IELTS qualification.

Participants can also use the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training or ECVET framework. This facilitates the transfer, recognition and accumulation of assessed learning outcomes with a view to achieving a qualification. It is designed to facilitate lifelong learning and to support the mobility of European citizens. The learning outcomes approach ensures a better understanding and comparability of qualifications and learning achievements across countries, institutions within a country or across qualifications.

In ECVET, an individual’s learning outcomes are assessed and validated in order to transfer credits from one qualification system to another or from one learning ‘pathway’ to another. According to this approach, learners can accumulate the required learning outcomes for a given qualification over time, in different countries or in different situations.

Who is it for?

  • If you are a higher education student and that you completed your first year of studies, you can benefit of the Erasmus+ studies and Erasmus+ placement programme.
  • It does not matter where you come from in Europe or what you do!

Is there a grant?

  • Each student taking part in the Erasmus+ programme receives a grant that will partly cover the costs of their stay abroad.
  • Please note that in most cases, it will not cover all your life expenses.

How much is the Erasmus+ grant?

  • Your grant amount will depend on the country you are from, and which country you plan to go to.
  • You will need to ask the international relation office of your university to find out how much money you will receive. Also, your Erasmus+ grant can be complemented by regional or national grants.

University Courses:

  • Before leaving your country, you will need to sign a document that describes the programme of studies that you intend to follow in your new host university. This document is the “Learning Agreement”.
  • At the end of your stay, your host university, or sending organisation, will give you a document called the “Transcript of records” which will confirm that you completed your programme.
  • You will have the full recognition by your home university for the courses you passed successfully abroad.

Language Courses:

  • A lot of universities and sending institutions offer language courses for international students. You can also register on the Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support to take online language courses (erasmusplusols.eu).

This experience have been really positive for me. I have learned how to live independently, how to value a lot of things (a job, a weekend, to do the shopping, to save money, to spend money in a responsible way, etc.). I also have demonstrated to myself that I am a professional and that I enjoy teaching a lot. Now I know that I am qualified to be a teacher in a different country with a different language. I recommend this programme for everybody because it is fantastic!

    (Berlin)

With my internship, organised by Partnership International, I got to visit many different Irish companies and was involved with introducing international students to them. I was also involved with inductions and orientations for foreign students. My work also included office administration. My colleagues were really nice so the working experience was very good. And I got to see a bit of Ireland while there. I’ve been to the Cliffs of Moher, a whiskey distillery, a falconry and many places more. So, overall it was a great experience and I would totally recommend it!

  • Asisa

    (Kronach, Germany)

First of all, I really love Cork! The people are very nice and friendly. My placement was with a very cool and friendly company as well. I enjoyed the time with my cool colleagues and boss! My work was familiar to me because I translated documents like I am learning in Germany. I would recommend an internship in Cork for every student because it is worth it. You improve your language skills and learn the culture. The Irish accent is also very cool but funny as well! So, I really enjoyed my time here. Thank you Partnership International!

So after all, I have to say it was an absolutely great opportunity to get to know a new country/city, people and to make an intercultural experience. I am lucky that Partnership International organised everything so well and that they were hands-on to their students the entire trip. Thanks very much for everything and keep doing what you are doing! It will definitely not be my last time in Ireland and you helped me to open new ways! Cheers!

My internship has given me the opportunity to learn a lot and to improve my professional skills in a foreign language. It was a great opportunity for me to gain practical skills and work within a professional team. The lessons I learned as an intern are still with me today and I’m thankful to all the team of Partnership International who were a real pleasure to deal with. I would recommend an experience like this to everyone.
