So you‘re staying in Hamburg for a few days and are looking for things to do while you‘re there? Well, look no further! We have a great list of places to visit in Hamburg. You should definitely check them out!
While you‘re in Hamburg you need to take a tour of the Hamburg Harbour with a boat! After all, it‘s the biggest harbour in Germany and the third biggest in Europe.
There are many different trips you could take, the most popular being the original harbour cruise.
It takes you around to see the container port, the HafenCity, the Speicherstadt and many more interesting spots in Hamburg. And since it’s a guided tour you will also get a lot of information about the history of the harbour and how it changed over the years.
Planten un Blomen is a city park in the city centre of Hamburg. There are many different gardens you can walk through. For example, in the citizens garden you can see some beautiful flower arrangements and in the Japanese garden, there are some exotic plants, small ponds, interesting rock formations and even a treehouse!
But a definite highlight is the „Wasserlichkonzert“. In the evening the water fountains there are illuminated and they either play classical music or musical themes from popular movies. It‘s very relaxing and incredibly beautiful.
There are so many places to visit in Hamburg but St. Pauli is definitely something you shouldn‘t miss! St. Pauli is a quarter of Hamburg and is also home to the famous Reeperbahn.
The Reeperbahn is still packed with many restaurants, nightclubs and bars.
At the Spielbudenplatz you can even witness some outdoor concerts.
And if you‘re there in September you can even go to the Reeperbahn festival. It includes around 400 concerts from newcomers to some better-known artists and there are many music-related events that are in the fields of literature, film, digital arts and many more.
Another a must-see is the St. Michael’s Church or the „Michel” for short.
It‘s a very famous and important landmark in Hamburg. The church is almost 400 years old and was completely destroyed twice and had to be built up from the ground again.
It has a platform that is 106 meters high, you can walk up there and have a look at the church bells or you can just take the lift and enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Especially in the evening, the view is just breathtaking!
The miniature wonderland in Hamburg is the largest model railway exhibition in the world. When it opened in 2001 there were only three exhibitions: Middle Germany, Austria and Knuffingen (a made-up city). Today there are nine, the newest one being Italy. But they have big plans for the future and are constantly working on expanding the exhibition. It sure is worth a visit!
With our recommendations, you will definitely have a fun-filled day in the city! After all, these are the best places to visit in Hamburg!
