Our Top 5 Cork Heritage Pubs

Cork City is famous for many things but amongst students one thing always stands out the most, Pubs! In our lively city we have pubs hiding everywhere, some easier to find than others. To help you have a  great time during your internship we will be listing our top 5 Cork Heritage pubs right here!

1# The Rising SonsHeritage Pubs Heritage Pubs

First on the list we have The Rising Sons on Cornmarket Street. The only Brewpub  in town that has an amazing variation of award winning craft beers  for the best tasting ale in the country! One of them even changes flavour with every batch, they call it the Changeling. Which I personally recommend as the most exciting beer in town.

However, if beer isn’t your thing you might want to try out their authentic Italian stone baked pizza’s as they are simply to die for and definitely got our interns hooked in seconds! Their special offers include a Pizza and Pint for €12 every Sunday to Thursday. If you’re interested in brewing you can even book a brewery tour with a beer tasting included to find out just how your beer is made! What is even more amazing is the atmosphere as it’s a great place to relax, talk and watch football during the week. For the weekend they will change things up a notch with amazing DJ’s and a more lively crowd. I highly recommend visiting this pub in Cork!

2# The Crane Lane TheatreHeritage Pubs

Second on the list we have The Crane Lane on Phoenix Street.  This pub is for those that love to relax and drink with décor from the 20s, 30s and 40s. You can choose from 4 different bars inside the Crane Lane depending on your mood and age as they are inherently different. They have live events every day and on Monday you can even learn how to Irish dance for just €5 per person.

Heritage Pubs

3# BDSMHeritage Pubs

Are you looking for something completely different? Then we recommend BDSM on 53 N Main St, Centre. This is one of the coolest rock and alternative venues out there. They have sourced some of the finest tequilas and whiskeys from all over the world, have a crazy amount of cocktails and a wide array of shots, beers and wine. BDSM has live rock, metal, indie and alternative music every weekend. Midweek offers from Sunday-Thursday include 2 cocktails for €10 or 3 selected beers and shots for €10.

#4 The BodegaHeritage Pubs

If you’re looking for a pub to have brunch or dinner and later enjoy a good whiskey or some pints then the Bodega on Cornmarket St is the perfect place to visit! Known to have Ireland’s biggest whiskey bar, the atmosphere is relaxing and perfect for the start of a beautiful evening. You should also try one of their cocktails when you’re at it as they have an award winning mixologist behind the bar!

#5 The OvalHeritage Pubs

Last but not least we have perhaps one of the most authentic Irish pubs in town. The Oval on the corner of South Main Street is the place to go to experience the olden Irish atmosphere, perfect for people who want to experience a real Authentic Irish pub. They even say the pub is haunted by soldiers of the past. Especially recommended on cold winter nights as they always have a cosy fireplace lit! Talk about comfortable, perhaps you might find yourself staring at lively ghosts!
